Asian Poached Cod

Ingredients
• 1 lb. cod, cut into 2-inch chunks
• Poaching Sauce:
• 6 tbsps. water
• 5 tbsps. soy sauce
• 3 green onions, diced
• 1 (2 inch) piece ginger, cut into thin strips
• 4 cloves garlic, crushed
• 1 tbsp. sesame oil
• 3/4 tsp. red pepper flakes, or more to taste
• 1/4 tsp. Chinese five-spice powder (optional)
Direction
• In the bottom of a saucepan, arrange the cod.
• In a bowl, combine Chinese five-spice powder, red pepper flakes, sesame
oil, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce and water; add on top of the cod.
• On high heat, place a saucepan and boil; lower heat to low and cook at a
simmer for 12-15 minutes till cod can be flaked easily using a fork. Take cod
out of liquid using a slotted spoon.
